KU Favorite in 09
Whitlock has pegged KU the 2009 favorite in the Big 12 North. With Reesing, Meier, and Briscoe all returning he makes a good argument. KU, however, has to play OU, UT, and Tech again next year. Missouri has it a bit easier with UT, Ok. St., and Baylor. Mizzou is losing a ton of talent on offense, but has a number of great prospects ready to emerge as big time players. Ultimately, I think the Big 12 North will come down to the winner of MU/KU at arrowhead next year.

Trifecta, are you smoking the same stuff Whitlock is on? kU will not even come close to being the top team in the Big 12 North, and no, it will not come down to Arrowhead. As you aptly pointed out, kU will have at least 3 losses (Tech, Texas and OU). They will also lose to Nebraska and K-State next year. Nebraska will be better and they beat kU last year. K-State will be MUCH improved with Carson Coffman as their QB. I'm pretty sure Colorado will even beat them.
KayCee Moe,
Nobody hates Kansas more than The Trifecta, but lets be realistic here. kU is returning the core of a team that beat Mizzou this year. Even assuming kU loses all three games to its Big 12 South opponents (though it wouldn't shock me if they beat Tech next year), Mizzou would have to come into that game with no more than one conference loss (assuming KU wins its games against the other North teams) in order to have clinched already. I still think the Big 12 North will come down to MU/kU at attowhead. Would you really want it any other way? If we've already clinched then kU has nothing to lose. I'd rather see them choke like they did in 07.
First of all, quoting Whitlock on this site actually gives him credibility. Next, to quote Whitlock's latest article (in which he directs comments to the article this post is about), "Kansas has been the lone impressive Big 12 bowl team. (And, yes, I wrote that to irritate Mizzou fans.)" Clearly, all Whitlock likes to do is stir the pot. kU is a joke. It will not come down to Arrowhead, and more importantly, if it does come down to Arrowhead that most likely means that Mizzou has not played up to its potential, because the Tigers would have racked up too many losses. kU will have at least 3 conference losses heading into that game, probably 4. On another note: when it comes to returning players, Maclin is holding a press conference this Friday to announce whether he's staying or going.
